Delay HDTV - Give me a break!

The powers that be are actually considering moving this transition down the line to ease the transition……GIVE ME A BREAK.

Ran into this article about how they are going to delay the HDTV conversion.  After watching all those ridiculous public service announcements over and aver for about a year, and hyping the electronics retailers to “inform” the public ….or…duping many consumers who are using sat/cable that their televisions are going to be obsolete.  Satellite and cables system will handle the conversion with no additional equipment.  It’s only the rabbit ear viewers (This has to be a VERY small population today.) whom will have any loss of signal.

This seems like common knowledge  but I wonder how many new hdtv’s are sitting in the houses of people under that exact false pretense?

If any business promised a customer a product by a date, then had them cough over millions to promote the thing…then on the eve of launch tell them we think we need to push it back to ease the transition, what do you think the response would be?

A painful transition is a painful transition, time will not help.  It’s time for America to stop whining about our own messes and challenges.  At a time when we should be rolling up are sleeves and getting things done with some drive, determination  and “can do” attitude, this is a gleaming example of no one wanting to take any ownership of anything.   It’s the old cover your ass and watch your company/self/govt stagnate attitude that I despise.

So to the policy makers contemplating making this”transition” costing the taxpayers a whole bunch more by delaying it, I simply say sorry, we can’t afford it.

How Stupid! How long have we heard about the switch? So even though the majority of the country is ready for the conversion, we still have to spend more money to wait for 6 million people that obviously can’t seem to find the time or the intelligence to comprehend that they need to change their old habits and get into the 21st century? Not a problem. We’ll wait. We all know how much money the government has to give away these days. Scratch that. Let’s just put it on the taxpayers tab. We can afford it.
I’m sure even if they push it back, millions will still prolong the change and won’t switch til they have too. Surprisingly when it is done, they’ll switch when they can’t see Jerry Springer anymore.
